hello
If you think you are pregnant the chances are you have a number of symptoms, however, as every woman's pregnancy is different you may or may not experience some of the signs or symptoms on the list.
This is a guide of common patterns a woman may experience when she is pregnant. common symptons include:
Missed Menstrual Period
This is usually your first clue. If you have a regular cycle and your period is 1 to 2 weeks late, and you had sexual intercourse previously, you might be pregnant. If you miss a period you should visit your GP for a pregnancy test or do a test at home. Home pregnancy tests work by determining the amount of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) in your urine. It is best to test your urine first thing in the morning as early morning urine is more concentrated and will give you a better chance of picking up the small amounts of hCG that are present in the first few weeks of pregnancy.
Morning Sickness
About half of all pregnant women experience nausea and vomiting during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. While morning sickness is more common first thing in the morning, it can strike at any time of the day or night.
Some women only have occasional queasy moments, others feel nauseated but don't vomit and others vomit frequently. For most, the nausea usually stops around the twelfth week.
Breast Sensitivity
Swollen, tender breasts are another indicator of pregnancy. Fullness or even pain in your breast where your nipples feel very sensitive to any pressure; could also be telltale sign that you might be expecting.
Breast tenderness usually eases by the end of the first trimester. However, your breasts will continue to grow throughout pregnancy
Fatigue
Extreme tiredness or exhaustion and low energy levels are another common early symptom of pregnancy.
Craving for Something to Eat (Food Cravings)
If you unusually want to eat something, craving for foods even when you are not hungry can also be an indicator.
Frequent Bathroom Visits. (Frequent Urination)
This is due to hormonal changes and this symptom added to other signs mentioned above may assure whether you are pregnant.
Frequent urination
Most pregnant women find they have to pass urine more frequently in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. This is due to the increased volume of fluid in your body and to the added pressure of the growing womb (uterus), which is right next to your bladder.
Heartburn and Indigestion
Early in pregnancy your body produces large amounts of the hormone progesterone and relaxin, which can result in food moving more slowly through your system resulting in bloating, indigestion and heartburn.
Excess saliva
Although unpleasant, this is a harmless symptom of early pregnancy and usually disappears after the first few months. It is often associated with a metallic taste in the mouth.
Food Cravings
Cravings and going off certain foods are most common in the first trimester of pregnancy and are probably due to the high hormonal levels. Most cravings and aversions disappear or lessen by the fourth month.
