Leg Cramps
Leg cramps are painful. Cramps are caused by the weight increase during the pregnancy and poor circulation. Leg cramps often occur at night.
If you experience leg cramps:
- Avoid standing or sitting with your legs crossed for long periods of time;
- Drink plenty of water;
- Take regular mild exercise like walking;
- Have a warm bath before bed to relax your muscles;
- Once a cramp starts, stretching the muscle by flexing the ankle upwards and massaging the calf.
- Try maternity support tights if they are not too tight and reduce circulation further.
- Discuss with your Doctor
